Lowrance 5150c to Icom m423

Hi all,

Please Help this is doing my nut in. I'm trying to connect lowrance 5150c to an icom m423. I have the NMEA 0183 cable, that has three wires, yellow talker orange listener and a black shield

Icom has four wires:

B brown talker
B green listener
A whit talker
A yellow listener

I've tried all these combos:

NMEA yellow to icom yellow
NMEA orange to icom white

NMEA yellow to icom green
NMEA Orange to icom icom brown

Tried connecting the black to each set

Tried talker to talker and listener to listener I.e. What I believe is the wrong way. None of it makes a difference what am I doing wrong? Do I need to connect the black back to the battery? None of the guides I have say that?

The icom has four other wires, but they all relate PA systems and external speakers, unless the manual is wrong?

Spent two hours swearing at it arghhhhhh it should be straightforward but it's not.

White on radio to orange on Lowrance
Yellow to yellow

You're welcome
I'd still connect the shield to brown & green if I was you. It's the -ve return, it'll work without, but it's using another earth path somewhere, it might make the data more reliable if you bond them together.
