Not used, but a well-regarded product, if a bit pricey.

NASA have an all-round white and a tri-colour available for £89 each.

The other alternative for occasional use is the NaviLight which has a strong magnetic and / or velcro mounting. Powered by AAA batteries which will last around 24 hours. They also float and the white has a flashing mode. We have those at £36.99. See details here

Or this for a lot less money?

Kernow, it would look good Sikaflexed to your forehead.

I've bought a bair of Hella port and starboard LED's, but not keen on their LED Masthead offering.

you can buy LED bulbs that fit inside a sandard mast head, if that's any good.

Then nod your head to the beat of Hey Jo and you will have every ship in the area looking for the light sequence on their charts .

Nope, the Hella 'all round' is a 'munter', you can keep those.
What's the NASA masthead/allround like? The Loppytlight is the thick end of £200.

We only use the Hella port and starboard lights with a separate stern or all round white on a pole - not sure a bout the NASA ones I'm afraid.

I've been trawling the www at length re. the LED nav subject. I've bought the Hella P&S LED's, but don't go much on their 'all-round' white. Other options are the stumpy Aqua Signal, the NASA Supernova and the Lopolight. No one appears to know much about the NASA and the bracket looks flimsy and the Lopo is pushing £250. A fortune for one navlight unless you're in the Cookee league. So, that leaves 'Old Stumpy'.
Oh yeah, Perko is a good old fashion Yank manufacturer that do make a LED , but you'll a quiet 2 days to nav their sit.

Thisis what I've got on my RIB, only cost £15 plus postage, about £25 all in and delivery was within 7 days. Looks really smart in it's stainless housing.

The Winter 2007 issue of the RYA magazine has an interesting article about LED nav lights. Worth having a read if you're in the market for new lights.

It seems that installing LED nav lights that will continue to meet Colregs colour requirements and be reliable over a length of time is difficult as there is no internationally accepted standard. They reckon that to date the BSH (German Federal Maritime & Hydrographic Agency) standard is "arguably the most rigorous LED navigation lamp standard and takes into account many of the concerns regarding long term LED performance." Other markings to look for are USCG, A-16 or RINA which, according to the RYA "are indications of competent independent testing of certain features required in some countries."

Seems like it's a bit of a minefield. I guess you pays your money and takes your choice!

Got USCG moulded onto my lamps, they're 1nm ones, but do all my cruising inshore around the Solent and IOW.

I can't see the justification on how expensive these lights are over here. Buying a lopolight and a couple of Hella's will set you back £300
