Looking for advice on a fishfinder

Hi, Im looking for advice on a fishfinder-depth sounder for use when diving. Got around £400 to spend. Would like a colour screen with the best definition possible. Thanks.

If you're wanting detail on a budget then you need DI (down imaging/down scan). Not as good as side scan but a lot cheeper.

I think they do a "sounder only" version but not sure it has DI

Have a good look on youtube for users of any fishfinder you're thinking of buying esp those who have filmed the displays in use.
Will give you a much more accurate real world idea of the quality than the manufacturers ads.

Haha, its for diving. Only fishing will be for wrecks and reefs.

Lowrance and simrad are my pick, though they are all mostly pretty good these days. I've been using different Lowrance hds units since they first came out and find them perfect for pinpointing underwater structure and fish ( I fish much deeper than most on here ) I can still read bottom at 40kmh in over 300m of water and easely watch soft plastic baits falling beneath the boat in around 60m of water.

What I like most about the newer gen3 models is the simplicity to find your way around the menus etc.

I just sold a hds 9 gen3 for $800 ( £450 ) brand new in the box on gumtree.
