Must have missed that on the Icom, exactly how small is it? I couldn't see anything.

And yes, you can use the belt clip on the SH, but I would much prefer something integral to the casing. The belt clip does feel reasonably substantial, but it is removable and I wouldn't want to bet my life on it.

You said, neither of them has a lanyard connection - I was just pointing out that they do. You may think the manufacturers' options are insufficient, in which case you likely want a case/harness with more ways to strap the handheld to yourself.

IMHO the SH clip is solidly attached, it goes with quite a snap if you lever it on/off with a flat blade. As always, the handheld is "one of" the pieces of safety kit so I'm not looking to make that aspect any more robust. YMMV.

What I'd actually like is a simple, robust lanyard attachment as part of the casing. I don't want a belt clip, and would rather not have to use it just to attach a lanyard.

Are you talking about setting a default call channel?

If so, on Icom 91d you hold down the 16/C button for 3 seconds and define your call channel.

To recall this channel, you press 16/C button for a second and you will select your previously defined call channel.

I have however never tried seeing if this is the default channel when making a DSC call.

If on the other hand, you want to reduce the channel list, you can set favourites.

From what I could see the favourites feature on the Icom only works for scans. Is there a way to scroll through just the favourite channels?

On the SH you can press and hold the preset button to select or deselect a channel, then switch through them with a normal press of the button.
