Yes, does sound very similar. Although mine won't tx properly either. Is yours intermittent too. I'll be trying a new aerial soon to see if that cures it.

Maybe they meant "iffy" filters - that's why it wasn't working!

My guess is a glorious typo and they meant RF. But with service like that, does it really matter?

you learn something every day
as an aside the vhf is dash mounted but the case design has convex curves on the sides therefore it cannot be easily sealed to prevent water going past and into the console without silicone and mess but its working

Agreed Doug - I fitted one on mine and was bemused by that profile! The clamping arrangement doesn't lend itself to compressing the rubber seal either does it? They've let themselves down a little there methinx.........

Eek! No seal at all? Mine has a rubber square profile under the facing flange. I wonder what happened to yours Doug?

I dont believe that seal is for the console / radio casing seal but instead seals the radio which is waterproof no probs there but water can go into back of console where all the wiring etc is

Hmm..... I wonder if yours is slightly different then? Mine can't be for anything else, unit flange mounts against the console and in between is a square section rubber seal. What else would it be for? For me it's just the clamping arrangement that's the weak point.
