Fair point - but sending to them with the reciept/ proof of purchase usually works for most manufactuers who offer this kind of warranty.Hopefully I'll never have to try it out.

True-but sending in someone else's proof of purchase (as I assume Alt did) doesn't mean a lot. That could have come from anywhere.

FWIW I reckon this all says rather more about you than it says about ICOM

John - I said those things for the sake of not getting bickered at on here - It's amazing how quickly Internet Hero's are to be found when they decide to go off on a huff. So to save these people the effort of typing, I decided to do it myself

John I can understand your position and why you'd take ICOM's side, i'm sticking by my guns and am disgusted that i'm being charged for water SPLASH damage on a so-called 'waterproof' VHF

As I said before, ICOM just don't give a sh1te about the little people who only buy 1/2 VHF's from them - i'm a nobody to them. As a youngster who owns a small business myself, i'm glad my ethics towards clients/customers are much less greedy

I wonder how you'd feel if someone decided to start an 'Alt's company are crap' thread on 3 internet forums before calling you about a product that they've admitted dismantling themselves on one of those forums?

Or is this perchance why you refuse to say what you do for a living...?

You're jumping the gun here - i'd have resolved any issue a long time before someone decided to create an 'Alts company is crap' thread on an internet forum. Especially if I had previously created a product, found out it failed and didn't live up to my claims. And rather than just sending an invoice, i'd have rang/e-mailed an explination as to why I thought it had failed.

As I said, my ethics are obviously different to others. No problem, that's life - Maybe it'll bite me in the ass some day for being too nice, but so far so good. It's not so much a company as a hobby that I have an interest in which luckilly pays me through college and lets me have a little fun on the weekends

I couldn't be bothered about going on about this as it's just going to turn into an "Ask alt 50 questions about his personal life" (You're not Mollers in disguise, are you?), it only enrages me thinking about it. I'm off to buy a Std Horizon and forgetting that ICOM even do VHF products

You started ranting about 'not fit for purpose' before even contacting them.

OK, I think that everyone has made their different views known. I don't think that any further discussion is likely to be productive so I'm closing this thread now.
