have you tried the Garmin UK website, there's a good questions / answers page, just type in model no and its should take you to a list of common problems:

Garmin used to ( maybe still do ) have tech help line..I used it a couple of times...really helpfull.

found it ..0870 850 1242

I'm pretty sure UK guys in their offices ...explained the reset ( three buttons at once) and sorted me when my 276 (?) locked up or wouldnt fix.

For a ''soft reset'' on a Garmin 440s.

Hold in the STBY key and the EBL key at the same time, than release the EBL
key.

I'll look in my manual for the hard reset as well, back in 10.

Cheers

I can't find it in the manual I have, try Google for '' Soft Reset'' and '' Hard Reset'' Hard reset will wipe all your settings though.

Cheers
