head phone for VHF

How do you lot cope hearing your VHF? I can't hear a thing with the wind noise when your pelting along.
Thought about an external speaker but without it being amplified in some way I can't see that helping. So, thought about head phones. I've got one of those old single ear headphones here somewhere. Thought about mounting a jack in the console so I could just plug in when I sit down. OR maybe have a holder next to the jack that they can clip into when not being used.
Cheers,
John

Standard Horizon fixed mount units (at least, both that I've had) also have a dedicated external speaker output.

Thanks Andy and JKY.
The Icom I have has an external speaker jack. Just thought about connecting headphones to it. But now I've seen the amp/speaker that Andy linked to there maybe no need
