Handheld VHF

I have just bought a 5m sib which does not have any seats etc so not possible to fix a permanent VHF radio My thoughts were to get a handheld instead as I'm not planning any long passages. Can anyone make a recommendation of a model to get and where from?

Thanks.

I've got the Standard Horizon HX851....

Had it for nearly two years now, and it's been used frequently.

Can't fault it, does what I need it to do. (Short range ship to ship communication and calling up Marinas etc..)

Obviously doesn't have the range of a fixed, but most of my boating is done on The Solent, so in an emergency help is often not too far away.

I know there are other makes of handhelds with DSC that also perform well.

.....buy cheap, buy twice- IMHO.

I have been using Standard Horizon HX851 in Greece during 6 weeks.
Great item. Solid, floating, simple, had not problem to communicate to other ships (some small ferries warned me to turn back seeing my small boat and waves).

If you plan longer trips spare battery be helpful.
