GPS Plotter / Fishfinder Lowrance 330C

I need to replace the Lowrance LMS 350A we have on one of our dive RIBs (for anyone following the previous thread, Silva were unable to replace the internal battery as it is a sealed unit ?!?). Silva could supply a replacement 350A for about £290, but it seems to me I should be spending a bit more and improving the kit and facilities.

Looking down the Lowrance price list, the LMS 330 C looks attractive, 5" colour screen gps plotter with fish finder etc for £579, plus approx £200 for charts which cover all of the South coast where we are likely to dive.

Does anyone have specific experience of this unit on a RIB? Is the 5" screen and 320 x 240 resolution good enough and bright enough for sunny days?

Alternatively, I presume Garmin do something similar, anyone else been here recently and would like to suggest an alternative unit in the same price range?

Ta
