I have the HD version with a wide angle which I am happy with, however a friend of mine bought One of these with the optional GPS unit and is very happy - it works as a sort of data logger and you can even see the track on Google Earth with speeds at any given time and all sorts of other software - definitely worth a look and it's got a screen!
The problem with the wide lens is it makes your boat look like a shoe if you know what i mean!
It is a great little camera for the money and the wide angle is good if you want to film other boats or scenery.
Another point I’ve noticed with it is it's very dependent on good light quality, and it can make a lot of difference to the video quality depending on whether the sun is behind you or in front!
I would like to get hold of a normal Gopro and run them side by side as a comparison.
But for £140 I’ve never regretted the purchase and I’ve certainly tested the waterproof case!

That does look handy, but I would probably never use the GPS function. Would be handy in a class room after a training session.
Besides £250 is out of my budget range, come to think of it so is the £150 needed for the Go Pro . . . .Christmas is fast approaching and I've got a feeling my wife's about to get a waterproof sports camera

dont get much for your money tho...
it comes with a 2Gb sd card
but it is compatable with the newer, larger SDHC cards.
i've put an 8GB card in mine, good for 4hrs filming,
not bad for something the size of a match box
