Yep, mine was like that too. A bit of a poor show, really.

It's good to see it all went smoothly.

You should complain to Garmin for the sake of others. I left my PC interface lead on the boat so will have to wait untill next week to upgrade. Thanks for confirming that it all works well.

So then.... I've read through all the posts but can't work out whether it's the GPS software that needs to be up to date or the chart software, or both?

My GPSMap 76 is up to date with software and is also loaded with a very recent version of the Mapsource charts, but I still can't get tide data on it. The 'tide' option under 'celestial' is just greyed out. Is this because I'm not in range of a tide station or is there more to it than that?

Does anyone actually know where the tide stations are around Britain? And in particular are there any in the Channel Islands? The Mapsource program shows tide data on my PC for two locations in Jersey, but this is without receiving satelite data, so must be built into the program somehow.

Can anyone clear up my confusion please

I updated the GPS software to the latest version and all the tide stations work perfectly now. Seem to agree with the paper tide tables to within 20mins. Accurate enough for most uses.

Ok then I'm a twit.

Just realised that you have to download the tide data map as well as the ordinary chart data. All seems to work properly now.
