Garmin handheld GPS

Any one out there had any experience with the handheld Garmin GPS units? I am aquiring a GPS 38 at the weekend and wondered if anyone has any opinions / experiences with these units as they are now discontinued.
Regards
Jiz

No it's definitely a GPS 38, I have it in my hand at the moment. I believe it has been discontinued and replaced with the GPS 12.

A friend of mine has a unit that looks just like the gps12. It was prior to the 12. It was very slow to aquire satellites and it also drank power. Batteries lasted just a couple of hours.
I can enquire further if it is necessary.

Yes it does take a little while, depending upon environment, to aquire satellites. Anyway I can't complain for £30, bargain! Got the manual today, made it all clear! Thanks for your replies.
