Garmin gpsmap 182c trouble

Hi all. My Gpsmap 182c has stopped working. Local fixer cannot do anything. Is there any point trying to get a used set and keep using the map I have. Map format now changed. Is it better to save up and fork out for a new model. The Pacific 22 is wired for the 182c. Thanks for any help.

Garmin used to have an exchange policy that is a fixed price. If it can't be fixed economicly, then for a set price (about £100 2 years ago) they will exchange your unit for a new one. Even though my unit was out of Garantee, they replaced it as my 182C had stopped reading the card.

It's worth an email or a phone call to them.

Like Andy I also had a 182c fail. Sent to Garmin and for a set fee, they promised to repair it. Sent me a brand new one back within the week. However depends what they have left. The latest equivalent are superb, we have a 555s on the yacht and its a great bit of kit. Charts are preloaded now too.

By way of follow-up, Garmin tell me that unfortunately they cannot help in any way as the unit is over 6 years old. That means new unit. Needless to say, being less than impressed with that I am looking at other makes. ANy suggestions appreciated.
Ken.

If you've been happy with it up to now, I don't think six years is bad. Your chart is out of date anyway, time for new kit. You know you want to
