Garmin AIS 600

Hi just fitted a AIS 600 and went to program boat name , call sign, and mmsi but found it already had another mmsi programmed and would not let me change it to mine.
Does anybody know if there is a way of programming the mmsi without removing it and sending it to garmin or taking it back to the chandlers that I bought it from?

I am not sure, but I believe that you can't change the mmsi number, I think that stays assigned to the unit. I think you have to change the boat details that are on the system as belonging to the unit.

The MMSI number is assigned to the boat, not the unit. so does need to be changed.

The software to reset it is not generally available, so unless you can track down a copy its back to the dealer I'm afraid.

Cheers

Chris

If the unit was new, then there should NOT be an MMSI programmed. First call to the Swindlers on Monday! Some kit can be "hacked", I'd be stunned if a 600 could be. Patently this kit is not new and someone has been playing silly buggers. Get your costs from the Swindler...

The only way to remove the number is to return it to the set dealer [Garmin,Icom etc) for reprogramming.
There is no provision for changing it i'm afraid.

Does anyone have a copy of the software CD which comes with the AIS600 or know where it can be downloaded? My CD is damaged.

Amac, did you manage to get the AIS 600 MMSI cleared? If you did, do you know how much it cost?
