Garmin 298c connected to Icom M421

Hi

My Dad has had his Garmin and Icom installed, they have "apparently" wired it together correctly. Am I correct in thinking, also reading the handbook, all we have to do is go into the "COM" section on the GPS and turn on NMEA Output and the two should talk. This is what he has done but the ICOM does not see the Garmin.

Personally I think, yet to see it, that it is not wired correctly.

or if anyone can let me know what wire should be connected to what I will check tonight.

Thank you

Make sure the outer of the phono on the Icom is connected to the ground of the Garmin.
Either to the Garmin case or to the negative supply to the Garmin.

Its a tad of a quirk but if its not then it won't work

Best regards
