Garmin

Thought i would let you know that i recently sent back to garmin, one of my back up handheld GPS's as it stopped picking up a signal - it arrived back today, fully working, and with new 2005 software downloaded to it..
Free of charge, with their compliments, and sorry for the inconvenience..... and even with new batteries in...........

This is a 1st for me... i have sent back things to .. Icom, Humminbird, Silva, simrad, xm, and a few others, and have never had this kind of polite, FREE, and very very quick, solution.

A fine service and A1 warranty, service to the customer, that puts the rest to shame ( and the majority's £25 fee, before they will even look at it)

garmin - top service

I've had similar excellent service from Garmin also.

Same sort of thing - handheld GPS that stopped receiving - it was about 3 years old though.

Dropped it into them for testing. They confirmed it was US but could either sell me a new one at a discount or would I like a slightly used demonstrator for free.

Fantastic.

Has anyone had a Garmin 188C ( or similar) "freeze" on them?

This happened to me last Thursday, It booted up fine, located itself and then suddenly no buttons would work, not even to turn off, which I had to do from the main battery switch.
Upon turning on again it was fine and worked 100% all day Thurs/Thurs evening and Friday!!!

Only thing I can think of it was a very cold day?

Any ideas or is it just like your PC can lock you out??

I love the Garmin kit.
Have one in the car, a handheld that I also use on the bike.

Service is second to none.

When ever I am asked for advice on GPS I always point people in Garmins direction.
Their stuff is like Nokia phones, drive one you can drive them all

Regards

Garmin

Saw this garmin GPS

I am thinking of upgrading a greyscale Navman Fishfinder and Eagle Journey GPS to one of these. Is this a good piece of kit. What is the difference with the internal received and the external one? Is it a fairly simple thing to install?

Have heard that their service is good.
