Well... 'bung it in' what a choice expression!!!! It took abit more fitting than just bunging it in. In the end it ending up with a new steering head been fitted an all!

I could have fitted it on either the left or right hand side of the consol, really weren’t all that fussed which side, so before I started cutting holes, thought I’d be smart and ensure there was enough space behind to accommodate the body of the set.

Hole cut, slide in the set.. Oh sh1t says I, it don’t fit, what on earth had I done!

Well idiot me somehow, when checking there was plenty of accommodating space somehow completely looked right through the sodding great big steering cable which routes itself down through the consol right at said point where I’d cut the hole.

What a tosser.

So, I had to go buy another steering head which routes the steering cable on the other side, fortunately I located such a beast in the form of the Morse Teleflex NFB steering head.

So in the end the VHF cost abit more than the £200 I thought I'd got away with spending.

A top little VHF set though, works great!
