Ebay fuel senders and gauge

Are THESE fuel senders and gauges any good for a 'put me on' until I can afford a better system?
Anyone any experience of them?

Just use a dipstick down the filler mate. Least you know its right.

You get what you pay for. A decent sender would cost around £30 and a gauge would cost from £15 up. (take a look at www.asap-supplies.com)
Can you make do without a gauge unti you get another £15 together?

Not always - these days you can often find someone selling an identical product with a different name for 2x the price.

So many things are made in factories in China and Western firms just import them.

Not saying it is the case here but it often applies.

In that case, leave it until you can get away with buying the better type. You should have a fair idea of how much you have left and carry a spare 5 gallons if you get paranoid.

A fuel gauge is just one more thing to go wrong anyway. Did you get that hamster installed on your trim and tilt?

For the gauge? No, new design! Which ever kids been naughty gets to hang over the transom with their fingers trapped where the trim sender was. Ahhhh is trimmed out and a silent ooooooo and turning blue is trimmed all the way.

just get a length of broomstick that will tuck away in the consol and use that as a dipstick. Hell of a job at 30 knots but reliable at rest

And a spare bit of fuel tucked away so that you have some when you havent got any!
