Could anybody point me in the right direction for a good depth gauge instrument i do not wish to look for fish, I would just like to have a large display telling me how much water was below me.

So what? Whoever buys your boat afterwards may want to and then it will be a positive selling point and in the meantime it's probably the cheapest way to get a good depth guage on your boat! I use a boggo Garmin 120 and it's brilliant, and I don't fish!

If it's of interest we have one remaining Garmin FF160 Mono - £79.95 delivered.

Link here

There's an option to show large numbers. Also gives an idea of what the bottom is like for anchoring.

Alternatively you could look at something like a Raymarine ST40 which can be supplied with a transom mount transducer. Around £140 delivered.

Feel free to give me a call if either is of interest. 01256 478000

Mike
