Memory-Map : Marine Charts is software and charts for the UK for £50 NOT free but very cheap compared with paper charts. I've tried seeing what is on the chart but it's too blurry to read. I've seen a similar one somewhere and that had a banner saying "not to be used for navigation" but I don't know whether that applies to just the online sample or the whole thing (which would make it pretty pointless).

I know this is a little off the original thread,

I Own and use the full version of this , It applies to ALL of the charts , which defeats the purpose realy , But they charts are EXACT copies of upto date admaralty charts (my Local ones are).

I used mine to navigate all over the west coast of scotland earlier this year , they worked fine for me .... maybe by luck .

It may just be a disclaimer as they are an electronic form.

I also have the full whack MemoryMap, If you read the small pringt it goes on about not using it as your only source of navifgation etc etc, in much the same way as pretty much any GPS you buy these days' opening screen tells you not to drive while using it or use it to navigate etc etc.

I've not got it running live, but having dragged my GPS trails off the wee garmin, it would appear to be pretty accurate. I also know a couple of WAFIs that use it on a laptop as a 14" chartplotter.

I use Navionics on my laptop. I already have the chart card for my plotter, about another £40 quid gets you the card reader & software to use the chart card on your pc. I like the fact that you can add waypoints, routes etc all nice & cosy in the kitchen & then just plug it into the boat & it's all there. Not free, but not a fortune if you already have the charts.
