best sub 100 handheld

cant really decipher the difference's between the lower price standard horizon handheld's so do i just opt for the cheapest?
only going to be used bout 2 miles offshore around the coast of cornwall if this makes a difference.....
or do i look out for second hand icom?

HX280E doesn't float,5W power
HX751E does float, 6W power, but lower battery capacity 35ish more

Both good reliable units.

sub 100 radio

Plastimo sx200 well worth a look bought one over 12 months ago i use it similarly to what you intend using one for been excellent, lot of features good battery life 99 if you shop around on the net

Chris, do yourself a favour and get another 15 - I bought the HX751E from Channel Ribs this week and it's a superb piece of kit, *really* impressed for the cost. Very substantial, floats, lots of features and power, great design and speaker clarity etc:

Trade members - any deals on handheld VHF?
