I think I've spoken too soon. Having fully charged the battery, it has been used to start the engine a handful of times. Granted the engine hasn't really been run enough to charge the battery but it seemed fine when I started it most recently. So this morning I went to do some work on the boat and it's completely flat. So I stuck it on charge and after 15 mins trickle charging, the green light came on to indicate it was fully charged. However, having fitted it into the boat again and tried using it, it's still completely flat. What's going on?

Should I just let it charge irrelevant of what the charger is telling me??

Thanks.

Are you running an optimax? If so they are very sensitive to battery condition & need a lot of amps to start!

Are the wires corroded at all? A fully charged battery may have enough to start the engine , but a bit down and it wont ( ie after a few starts) .

As said if its a big opti it will never go ( dont ask how I Know!) but all to do with powering ECU up & turning over at the same time etc .....
