Assistance required

I have just bought myself a twin fog horn. Everything is there except wiring and switch!!

I am no electrician and always give it 'respect' so I am looking for some assistance as to the best way/method of connecting this piece of equipment.

If the amps are big you're going to need a relay and a waterproof 12v push button. More than that I dunno...

At least now folks will know when you're coming

Fix the relay in a dry place - you won't want that baby sticking 'on'

Check the current rating of the horn(s) and make sure you run the right size cable from the relay to the horn(s): tinned cable is good.

If you know nothing of electrical stuff like me, I can send up the Wife and Teenage Daughter if you like. They make one hec of a twin tone fog horn

You'll just have to feed and water them.

Thanks guys. Willk & DHD they gave me a relay with it so I suppose I better use it although e-How suggest I can run it direct from batter terms with 15amp fuse and 14 guage tinned wire. Any further thoughts as to the best way?
Andy I have a wife, daughter in law and grand daughter that can fill the same role as your female relations but thanks for the offer

Use the relay, the high amps will quickly kill the switch off.

Relays are a good idea to protect switches, but to keep it simple would seem the best way to go.

If you use a Carling switch which are rated to 10 amps please see the link below;

I very much doubt that the Fog horn will be any where near 10 amps.

OOOP's is it 15 amp......smoking carling switch!!!!!

does your fog horn sound every two minutes or do you need to flick the switch?

Thanks Burtox that info was good. I have looked the site and it says that Condura 11 switches are all rated 20 amps so I will go the easy way.

Is an expensive way to sound a horn. Relays are simple! + to fuse to switch then to relay and - (earth) for the switch side and just + to fuse to relay to horns for the power side.
