Anyone tried the humminbird side imaging systems?

Hi

Has anybody tried the humminbird side imaging fishfinders and are they any good?

I am interested in getting the 797 purely for the side imaging for diving but i m not sure if its just a gimmick or if it actually works

Where is the cheapest place to get one or does anybody have a 2nd hand one they would like to sell?

Cheers

Best place to buy Ebay from the states.

Humminbird

I had one which did depth and GPS and the build quality was terrible. Despite the boat being covered all week, water got in and it proved to be very unreliable. I decided then that I wouldn't touch one again and instead bought a Lowrance unit with the same functions which was better made and worked fine. The Humminbird went in the bin.

There was a write up in this months "DIVE" magazine on the Humminbird and a tow fish system that needs a laptop, so may be more useful on a hard boat.
