Hi Ian - apologies for the delay in replying - yes every easy to fit and use - we purchased a car charger with bare terminals at the same time that makes fitting extremely easy - would very much recommend

You get a text with lat/long, speed (if the boat is on the move) and the time sent, you also get a battery level indicator although if the tracker is hardwired in this won't tell you the condition of the 12volt battery as it runs through a regulator. If the unit detaches from the power lead it will revert to its internal battery that will run for 24 hours.

Chris

This system appears to give a good account, I was looking to fit a unit of some some to a boat which will be out with other bareboat helms so I can find it etc or be warned if it leaves a designated area (say the Solent/fixed area). This unit appears a good price and does this, would anyone wrn me against it or point me at a diffferent product

Just make sure you get the real thing and not the clone...avoid buying through eBay. Buy direct from the manufacturer. Several of us have done this. Any will be able to advise. From an appearance standpoint, the clone and the real thing are almost indistinguishable and could be impossibly indistinguishable in an advert on eBay.

There are lots of different products out there ranging up to those products that are monitored by a third party and therefore have a monthly fee (up to 300 and ~25/month). Several on here have those devices too and are very pleased with them I believe. You pays your money...etc etc.

I think there's a critical mass of nobbers on here who have bought the Xenun Tracker. Not heard of any problems to date (damn, that's the kiss of death)

I've got mine hidden on the boat and then the hard wire to the battery is sort of 'lost' amongst all the other wiring. There's nothing obvious to tell there's a tracker fitted (apart from me telling the world via this thread )
Cheers again for info. when you fitted the unit did you do like Knot Yet and use and water
proof box to house it? The consul of the new Rib is dry but thinking lonterm damp etc

Hi on Time Bandit the console is well sealed I have the tracker mounted directly onto the console at the moment and I have the regulator wrapped up in a small plastic bag with the wires taped up. I don't think it will be a problem but when I get round to it I probably will fit the tracker into a plastic bag or waterproof box.
