How to use?

How are you going to use this?

Do you intend to disable the unit when you go out and enable it when the boat is stored??

I think the most important aspect is to know if the boat is stolen and then to be able to track it??

If you use a geofence and then reports, it will go mad when you are out on the boat!

I wonder if the use is going to be a pain?

Would apprciate knowing how others have achieved this.

Thanks.

It's not difficult...one text message arms it for when you're leaving the boat unattended...one text message disarms it when you're about to use the boat. Simple

And if the boat moves when it is armed , it sends a text? From the movement detector or geofence?

Then reports position on a regular basis?

These can be plotted on Google Maps??

Is that it?

From one or the other...whichever you set You get lat, long, speed, date and time

If you set the geo-fence, you just get a message to say it's escaped (according to the instructions - I've never tried this feature myself). If you set the movement alarm, it updates on a regular basis that you have previously set.

As it sends you lat and long you can just plug this into Google Earth/Maps/whatever. Interestingly, the 'clones' have an additional feature in that the alert text message includes a web address that if you have a maps enabled phone will link directly to Google Maps. Nice, but this in no way makes up for the shortcomings of the clones in other areas

Apologies for the delay in updating - darn work has been rather busy

Anyway a few pictures of the recently recieved GPS - depending on the weather - hope to get it sorted and installed this weekend ...did you hear that Knot Yet 2

As you can see it is very small - I've taken a picture with it next to a Blackberry Curve for comparison
