PS - "I answer in to professionally" so what do you do?

It's quite interesting and encouraging that MT has in many places around here better coverage (esp for class B) than the CG and VTS systems, due to the spread of many more base stations. Not that they'd perhaps ever admit to looking :o)

Reflects the many no coverage areas on VHF generally due to cliffs etc, worsened for small boats like ourselves. DSC helps though

Cheers

Steve

I'm a biscuit designer.

....that's what the Leader of the Opposition suggested I tell anyone who asks because what I really do sets off too many heated discussions!

If I tell people I build offshore windfarms she rolls her eyes, does a 180 and heads for the hills.

After the year you've had Mr Caton I would have thought you were the ultimate authority on biscuits. Come on, pull yer finger out man!

there are worse things to admit to...trust me I've done 'em.
Maybe more a case of rebuilding them after this couple of weeks weather has passed.
Did you go to sea as you per yesterday's post??
I'm still sailing an armchair.... and very nice it is to!

Shame about not doing biscuits, as I was going to ask for a box of Tunnocks as a thank you for running the Marine Traffic base station :o)

Lots of on-shore wind generation here in Orkney - including my 5kw one that powers the MT base station, as well as making 22,000kw pa. And people say wind doesn't work. As you may know, here in Orkney we can't export any more power due to lack of cable capacity.

As you may have picked up, the renewable industry here is one of the reasons why we do well with marine traffic coverage, and a thriving community.

So no eye rolling here - many here would have you as a messiah with doing off-shore, compared to on-shore :o)

Just wish electric outboards were better as I'd be quids in...

Cheers

Steve
