I liked how it went from Mrs Miggins dipping them in wax to robots handling them.......

I had always assumed that props were made using the lost wax method (wax mold set in sand and then steel poured in). Seems a very long winded method to create a ceramic coat over the wax model and then pour the steel in -there's a reason for it, but I have no idea why.
