Hi Stu,

If you're looking at 200 hp then the hpdi Yammie should still be a contender surely? AFAIK there have only been problems with the larger hpdis (3.3 blocks ie 250hp & 300hp). Just a thought!

Hi Louise.

If I was buying an new engine it would be an Optimax, if for no other reason than fleet standardisation and that they are the best outboards around. Theres a Big yammie kicking around a mechanics I know and it might be a good deal for the Camel restoration.

My concern was just how piggy are they! and it seems very!

I just think it's a waste of a good engine sticking an Opti on the Camel

When Lee was a young lad he used to drive a 6.5m Ribtec with Mark Bleaker. Red one with rear mounted stand up console. Engine was a Pro V Yam 200 V6. Not sure what you get with a Pro V over a normal engine but rumoured to be blue printed and balanced. They used to complain about the 20 gallons per hour, however they were doing 60 mph.

Hi Stu
There was a rib hire company over in Gosport that hired out camels a few yeas ago.
We hired both bog standard cammels with the roll cage and the delectable 130's and they had a press boat with a mini frame with an opti 150 on it.

The opti 150 made such a difference it was like a different boat, yes I accept loosing 1/4 of a ton of roll cage will make a difference.

Thinking back it might of been a 200 opti but I don't think so.
Good luck with getting your fleet fully operational.
Rgds
James
