Yamha 50 4-s suddenly no cooling

I just bought a small boat w 50 hp Yamaha 4S 2002 model. Filmed it running and the cooling water splashing everywhere. Put it in gear and after that turned off. Then restarting and no cooling water either down rig or through upper pipe. What happened?

Ideas anyone?
Matt

Any chance theres mud / silt or old leaves /pine needles in the bottom of the tank that may have been sucked up & clogged up the water intake ?

Being a used condition engine, how do you know it was running opt cond at sea, lake, river, whichever before buying. If it's only a peeing port issue and not engine overheating up, run a plastic tie & wrap, W-40, or Carb Spray plastic cannula up/down peeing hole several times while engine is on, probably you have a clogg there ?

Might be a worn, dried, cracked impeller issue, you are looking at a 12 year oldie, Yam impellers don't last that long in top pumping cond. Remove lower leg and check water pump liner, impeller cond, replace if needed.

Happy Boating

Thanks, I probably jave a look at the impeller. I cleared the peeing whole and nothing, that was the issue at first but then it also came cooling water put from the lower leg. Now there is suddenly nothing any where. Well down we go...

Personally, I'd replace it regardless. Gets you to a known condition, especially if you're stripping it down to inspect.
