Hi Nugent,

My business partner runs a 150hp VMax (duo-prop) on his Ribtec 755. has had it for the last 10 years without any real probs. If that helps

You eyeing up that revenger Ed ?

The V-max is HPDI, which were known for issues from what I remember.

Did my research on these big 225 / 250 (3,3li) Hpdi's - early ones had oil problems = blowing up. Fixed with an updated oil pump FOC fit but interesting not a recall... Late 3.3li engines had this from new. Plenty of these in the states, didn't sell well in the UK it seams.

The smaller 150 & 200 HPDI never had this problem.

Vmax is same as "normal" HPDI with duo prop. Haven't heard anything bad.

As someone now running a 250 HPDI it's a nice engine - performs / drinks fuel & sounds like a big 3 litre opti really which is just what you'd expect. You don't get smart craft gauges (which I like) - I've fitted a flo-scan to accurately monitor consumption.

Just to clarify (can't edit from iPhone??) I like smart craft. I miss it on the yam. I've a feeling the late HPDI engines had a more advanced gauge (mine are yam digital gauges and display all you want to know, they just aernt smart craft and critically don't do fuel consumption calcs.)
