Yamaha Hydradrive won't go up enough

Just going through our new boat to make sure it is 100% right before we go out and discovered that the port drive will only go up to a point and then stop. Seems like a safety has cut in that stops it from going too high while cruising.

If I bypass the switch and apply power straight to the relay, it all works fine.

Any advice?

Also one of the starter motors is playing up on the ME421STi. Are they the same as the Toyota product? Or should a be looking at a starter relay first, not that I know where to find it?

The trim button on the controller is a two stage button. Push it harder for trailer up. The starter needs taking off and cleaning. The solenoid are easy. The plunger that pulls down to activate the starter has a rod on the end to push the dog gear onto the flywheel. What happens is the dog gets stuck on the shaft and stops the solenoid going full travel. Two 17 mm bolts and electrics on the bottom. One hour for the whole job. I'll take pics of drives tomorrow and pm you
