Yamaha F300 release

Just found on the yamaha website the new 300hp four stroke. Using the same block as the 350 power to weight ratio not going to be great.

I can't wait - a 300 nearly as heavy as 2x200s. They must be MAD - it's a 400 they need - would make a lot more sense!!!

I love this quote from Yamaha.

"Designed primarily to satisfy the growing demand for light, compact, space-saving engines to power the larger breed of offshore boats,"

The Yam 350 has a better power to weight ratio than the 250HP. The 300 will be better than the 225 and 200.

Still much lighter than similar HP diesel inboards and most petrol ones.

Perhaps it's worth comparing them with other manufacturers then.............

Yamaha 300 - 365kg

Yamaha 200 - 278kg

so yes the 300 does have a better power to weight ratio than the 200.

Then look at the Suzuki 300 - 274kgs - only 91kg lighter - that's 200lbs........
