Yamaha F100-AET Pipe from Engine to bottom of shaft

Hi.

I had the common issue with this motor where the support bracket failed while on the trailer and in my case led to the trim ram breaking at the top joint.
To get the rusty "mild steel!!"pin at the top of the ram out I had to heat the alu frame. This lead to having to cut the small rubber pipe that goes from the base of the engine to the bottom of the shaft.

Does anyone know what this little pipe is for? is it important???

Thanks

Is it the ram pitot tube? Runs up to your pressure actuated speedometer?
