yamaha colour

Gents,

Does anybody know the colour code of the paint used on a 2010 yamaha 300 V6?
The 'standard' (if there is any?) touchup paint of yamaha results in a rather big difference on colours so i'm wondering if there is more than 1 colour of 'yamaha charcoal grey'.

After some forum checking , i read something about the 2 digits of the part number of the engine cowling which should indicate the colour, but the cowling in the list I'm looking at has the code '00' at the end where this should be saying something else than '00' (like '8D' or similar I think?)

any assistance is much appreciated!

I had a similar issue when trying to touch up the skeg on our 2006 Yamaha F250. I ordered genuine Yamaha touch up cans & the colour match was terrible. The closest match I found the type below, Hycote Aerosol cans, in "Vauxhall Moonland Metallic" It is a fraction darker, but if you feather it out it looks pretty good.

Hope this Helps

Robbie

Does the colour coat require a lacquer?

Yes, I bought the Lacquer with the paint, again in Genuine Yamaha tins. Stevie Wonder would have been proud of the colour match. I had to clean it all off with thinners & dump the tins.

Gohelm, I thought you had a Suzuki DF250 on your Delta? How are you liking the F300 Yamaha? It must fly with that engine! I used to have a 300 Yamaha HPDI on our Tornado 7.5 but recently re-engined with a 2006 3.3 Litre F250 Yamaha with only 250 hours run. Loving the whisper quite idle & better economy! Here is our engine, all touched up & re-lacquered. I fitted some newer decals to modernise it as I fancied a change!

Robbie - yes you are right about the suzy 250 on my boat which went - unfortunately- from "nice engine with squeaky noise" to "engine with blown headgasket after 175 hours" to FUBAR within 1 service interval. It turned out I had a pile of badly put together parts instead of an outboard engine..:-(

I am still fiddling about on props for the yammie and I still think it is a bit big engine for this boat, but hey beggars cant be choosers and I am happy i found a low hour 30 inch shaft engine (I actually spent a 5 digit amount of euros on a boat i didnt had the chance of using even for one hour)

Here is the difference on colour - the OCA splashcover will hide this spot ( so wont do a full repaint yet), but still I wondered.

Very nice engine! does it have low hours? You were lucky to find a used one. I was keeping an eye out for one but eventually settled on the F250 i found as I couldnt find a used F300 anywhere. But I would much prefer the electronic controls & the extra 50hp you have! Yes, I think its far to big for your boat, you should sell it to me! LoL
