yamaha 8hp 2 stroke

hi i have a 8hp yamaha 2 stroke it runs fine but i notice that sometimes the water coming out of the telltail stops to a drip then if i put a piece of wire up the nozzle it starts gushing out then its fine for a while then again slows, i havent checked whilst running in gear but only when flushing in tub of water in neutral, Any advie will be so much help. Thanks chris

Yeah, backflush it with a hose up the telltale. It should flush some of the crud out that's blocking the telltale.

Run the motor again, to see if the crystals of salt have cleared.

Most likely you won't. The tube for the telltale is not large enough to supply a significant amount of water to the cooling system.

The telltale is not a functional system; it's more like the oil pressure idiot light on your car dashboard. It tells you that the system is working OK (if the telltale is working properly), but if it fails, it doesn't affect the rest of the system.
