Yamaha 422sti pistons

I have a 2010 422sti 285 hp engine that I need to rebuild I need a couple of pistons I know the block is a Toyota land cruiser 4.2 I have had conflicting reports on pistons Does anyone know for sure weather they are Toyota parts or are they 4x the price yamaha


Any help would be appreciate

The pistons are different, the Yamaha ones are very much stronger, the land cruiser ones will melt .

I rebuilt a 240hp Yamaha engine a few years ago & I used Toyota pistons however they were slightly different to the Yamaha pistons I think the rings were tapered on one set of pistons & parallel on the other

it did work out cheaper to replace all 6 pistons with the aftermarket Toyota items than buying rings from Yamaha

part of the problem you will face is sourcing the pistons as no one keeps them in stock & there are a few variations depending on the year of the Toyota engine. The engine shop I used ordered a couple of variations for me to compare.

the engine ran fine with the Toyota pistons fitted
