Yamaha 40 2 stroke Prop

I just picked up an excellent 1993 Yamaha 40 hp 2-stroke, PTT, fresh water, barely used.... for my Avon SR4 classic I'm fixing up.

The prop is dinged and banged up....

Should I just get a stock new prop ?

Are there many options ?

Stainless ?

Thanks,,,,,,,,,,

J.Z.

Standard Yamaha aluminium props are perfect. You need to think about the area you're likely to boat in. If it's sandy shores without hidden obstacles, then by all means stick on a stainless steel prop, but if you hit something you're likely to damage the gear box.

Running with a damaged prop causes vibration at WOT, so get it changed as soon as possible.

need diameter and pitch

After some research,,,, i will have to figure out the diameter and pitch for good all around performance. The engine was purchased for and came off of a pontoon boat, so I will not use that prop as reference.

Gathering info.......

You'll want 10-11" diameter and probably 12-15" pitch depending on what you want from the boat performance wise, 12 is for better acceleration 15 for better top end
