Yamaha 30hp EFI....advice please!

I am on the verge of buying a new 4.2 Rib Yam 30hp EFI package, and would appreciate any advice or experience of using similar.
The engine is brand new, but i would like to hear of any experience of how this engine will perform with a 4.2 Rib. I plan to pull my son on ski's amoungst other things but i am concerned that it might be underpowered, or am i worrying over nothing as in fact this engine will get on the plane with ease!
I am aware of Yamaha's build quality, performance and reliability as i own a smaller one, but would welcome any comments on the package.
Cheers

What sort of rib ? 30 f/s is going to be a bit gutless tbh especially if you plan to Ski and will have to work bloody hard to get up. i had a zodiac pro 420 thing with a Yam 40 two stroke and pretty flighty 32 knots but would outrun rollers if reqd
But it will do the job and be frugal with fuel usage. but really need to know what Rib you intend to purchase

I'd say you need a 40..at least....I managed to ski behind my 4m with a 50....but I was in form and lighter!...I also did behind 200 which was just scary.....

30 will make things very very hard going....

Thanks for the advice fellas. My other option is a Honda BF50 4 stroke instead of the Yam 30 4 stroke, on the same 4.2 rib. There is only 4kg difference in weight so the Honda is a real contender, although the Yam 30 will hold its value better for resale purpose's. My head want's the Honda but my wallet want's the Yam........as there will be an extra 1200 price tag to buy the Honda. Ive got a headache....which one????

Thanks for your opinion Matt. Will it still be gutless even though its a brand new Yam?
Ive been told the Yam 30 will perform as well as a suzi or mercury '40'

Presumably that was a Yam dealer who told you that? If its actually putting out the same power as a 40 then they would call it a 40 and charge more! Personally I'd consider walking away from a dealer who tried to BS like that.

Hi SPR
I plan to pull my son on ski's, general doughnutting, sea fishing etc. Would you advise the Yam 30 on a 4.2 rib for skiing?
Any advise greatly appreciated
