Yamaha 28 wiring - again !

Hi,
I have asked some questions before on this subject, but still have a problem.

Yamaha 28HP electric/manual start - NO STOP SWITCH.

I can start my outboard fine now I have wired up an ignition switch (thanks to Nos for finding one), but I CANNOT STOP IT.

There are only 3 wires coming out from the front of the engine - red, black and white.
Red and Black goes to the starter switch, and the white wire comes from the electric choke.

I have been told that by shorting out the coil live feed to earth will stop the engine, only problem, my engine has TWO coils and therefore Two live feeds.

Nos4r2 has said he will look next weekend, but it means taking the whole boat to him, so I thought I would try and get another answer here.

Thanks,
Andy

Shorting them toghether might also work. (going from memory here, but I think that's how it was wired on my 2 cyl Yam of yore......)

You may also find if it's a 2 cyl, shorting one plug will be enough to stall it.

My wiring diagram

Here is the diagram I have done showing the wiring of my Yamaha 28hp.

I don't know how to connect in a stop switch.

I think 9D280 is right looking at that diagramme. Connect a killswitch between the grey and orange wires.

It now STOPS = Hoorah !

Thanks to Nos and a few others, my Yamaha 28hp now STOPS.
A simple problem for people with the Know-How, a major problem for someone without - horses for courses I suppose !
Still- as my late father always told me "If you don't know something, ASK !"

Thanks to all concerned,
regards,
Andy
