Yamaha 115hp Engine Issues

Hey guys, just a quick question. Does anyone else have the same problems i do with my Yamaha 115hp engine?
Basically when im coming into my berth in the marina, im in forward, i then put the throttle into neutral, but the properly keeps turning. It does the same when going from reverse into neutral. And makes coming into my berth that bit harder.
Just wondered if you had any tips or advice on what i should do about it. And if you experience the same problems i do.
Many Thanks

Hi. The prop will rotate when in neutral if the boat is moving. This is normal.

Okay, on my old boat, i had an Evinrude Etec 150hp it never used to do this.
So much to the extend my son has to leap off and try and stop the boat going forward to the pontoon. Just wondered if it was something to with the throttle or gears.
Thanks

It could be the control cable setup. They can be annoying on the Yam 115s. With the engine running but the boat tied up alongside, check that the arrows on the sliding gear change, on the port side of the engine under the cover, line up every time you return to neutral from ahead or astern.

sounds like the control cable is not adjusted correctly under the hood. eg neutral is not neutral. nearly but slight more adjustment needed to centralise the gear slider.

where abouts are you?

How smooth is the movement of your control box, is it stiff? As this could mean new cables are needed.

If it happens in reverse and forwards then its probably not something you can resolve with adjustment. Look for slop in the linkages and cable connections at both ends...

Thank you for the posts. We will try these out when we are next in Exmouth. And if these dont work, at least we will know what to ask for when it next has its service.
Many Thanks
