Yam Remote Buzzer

Anybody know what Voltage does the Buzzer on the Yam 703 remote box works on? and is it an AC or DC machine?

I ask because the one I pulled out my remotes at the weekend (moving the electrickery to the console) I tested because it looked somewhat corroded & 'orrible. Couldn't get it to so much as cough with 12V (DC or AC).

Anybody know? Part of me does wonder if I need to bother with it at all as the over temp switch on the cyl head seems to just do what the deadman does - i.e. short the spark plugs - so I can't see how it could make the buzzer buzz, otherwise it would do so as soon as you pulled the deadman too.

Thought did occur to me that it may not be needed for my engne, which would save me the hassle of mounting it!

Any Yam sparks out there?

This is a Wild-ass guess, but I would figure it to be a 12VDC piezoelectric transducer. Not too much AC coming from the engine.

Might see if someone has a Ymmie that chirps on power up, and see if you can measure it. Mine doesn't or I'd offer to do it for you.

Ok, you have verified what I thought. Looks like my buzzer may be well past it's "corrode by" date. I couldn't make it buzz even on a 12V bench power supply.

Thanks for the confirmation. Looks like I'm going home via Maplin tonight.....
