hi all, looking for a bit of help before i go in blinded fold, we ve a 03 f100 that when powering t trim down t engine only goes down by its own weight, sounds as if t motor is doing no work as regards pumping oil, its spinning fine and tilts t engine up no prob, its definetly on t hydraulic side because the engine will pop up out of the water once in reverse, any ideas thanks pat.

If you look up f100 tilt and trim problems in google this comes up all over the world. I think it is a pair of valves that cause the problem. They cost a few quid but the strip down Could be pricey. Worth replacing all the seals etc at the same time. I went another route and bought a second hand one which I was very lucky to find. Still cost me about 700 by the time a local mechanic had hoisted the motor off to fit it.
