Yam 90 prop Chinook 5m

Hi all could anybody help with a prop reccomendation, a friend of mines just bought a 5m Chinook with a Yam 90 which seems in good order, we believe has been used for diving its very quick on the plane but tops out at 29 knots, we've had a look on the prop for a pitch size but its been painted a couple of times and we can't see any markings? it won't be carrying much weight in the future and we're looking for a bit more top end/ more relaxed cruising? regards AL

I'd say a 21" was a bit agressive and would go the 17" to 19" route

Nah, 17" standard K series on a 5m boat will overrev unless you're constantly fully loaded.

19" is about perfect unless really lightly loaded then it'll just swing a 21". Mine will, and is still fairly well within the recommended WOT RPM.

FYI if you have a yamaha prop noe, you will find the pitch stamped on the three spokes inside the exhaust tube, both front and reat of the prop.
Mone has a K in a circle on one spole 13.25 on another and 19 on another.
= Kseries 13.25x19 simples

i rekon a k19 is a good starting point.
