Why No 70hp Outboards

Been looking for a 70 for ages now but I haven't seen many at all for sale

Is this the end of the 70's as there seems to be loads of 60's out there.

A lovely little yam 70 would be awesome but like rocking horse poo

They are the holy grail of outboards in the range. Much lighter than the 75 which is basically a 90.
Well sought after and i would probably say they change hands privately rather than seeing them on the open market. I wanted one fir my SR 47 but after a year of continuous looking for other projects and/or an engine to have sat around, i bought a new F70.
Will keep me eyes open for u dude.

Bill highwayman had some 70s ex contract but all premix versions for £3500

It's because they are one of the most commonly used outboards for the 4.5 to 5m boat size. Over here boats with Yamaha f70 or Suzuki 70 are extremely common and the fact that even the old 70 two strokes just keep going if well serviced means they tend to hold their money extremely well.

Johnson

I;m running a Johnson 70 VRO but running premix. Its taken a little bit of fiddling to get it set up but its now proving reliable and good on the fuel. Quite a few still around worth some consideration i think!

It have to be 70 HP ? I have seen Steve's adv. (from SeasSwift) about HONDA BF90 2014 1500 hrs. I have forgotten details but cost was something about 3000.

Maybe he/SeaSwift have more to sell (like BF60, BF80)

I've got your old yam 70 on your ex sr 4.7 up here in the Hebrides (I bought it off Alex three years ago who I think got it from you). I may be selling to upgrade to a 5.4 in you fancy a trip to Oban to buy it back!

A bit of topic but I've been thinking of changing the carbs on my 60hp Johnson to bump it up to 70hp. From what I've been able to find out the carbs are the only difference between the 60 and 70, this might also work for other motors?

Not with yams. The ecu's are also the stumbling block.
