What's this engine ex RNLI?

Looking at buying this engine it's been serviced at Barrus and shows 202 hrs , I noticed a pipe coming from leg some sort of flushing attachment? Any info please? Thanks Click image for larger version

It won't be ex rnli they never used that engine. It's a flushing attachment called an umbilical. I would also be surprised if it's actually a Mercury! I should think it was a mariner as I can't ever remember modifying a Mercury with an umbilical on it.

jamie it looks like a 75 hp ex MOD, a good engine a new set of 90hp carbs and you have a 90hp. All parts are the same apart from the carburettors. If you did convert it to a 90hp, you will also probably need to re prop it , or make sure you dont over rev it.

I think the rigid raiders used 90hp outboards.

Listen to Turbodiesel and Uncle AL, they've probably forgotten more than most of us know about those motors.

Turbodiesel is the flushing port the only modification on these? Any think to check for apart from usual compression checks etc?
