Whats it worth?

Near mint condition I'd say Honda BF5a Longshaft outboard with charging outlet, 5hp four stroke, as pictured and youtube video

runs very quiet on on tickover, rubbish microphone on camera phone makes it sound tinny,

The water on this unit is amazing, better then my yamaha 60 - used it tonight on a wayfarer boat experimenting with trim positions

A Honda 5hp is over a grand new. Reckon it's worth £600-£700 with documentation and receipt. Depends how old it is?

They are £995 new with 6 year warranty. If i searched more i could get that down to £925. Personally I hate the 4,5,6 Honda as they look too square. I sell them at £395 although this one looks quite clean (powerhead shows some corrosion though).

Give a buyer the choice of used (assuming it's around 2003 model) for £700 or brand new with 6 years warranty for £200 more and I know what they will choose. No brainer.

Although anyone in the Market for one at that money should look at other brands available for better value.

Pics shows a few that's sold recently (not by me). I know we can all find ones that have sold for more....and for the record I'm not interested in it so no I'm not trying to get it on the cheap.

Thanks all for your honest opinions and I know you're all un biased - just trying to be fair - it comes with an as new a 12 litre hulk tank and not yet purchased very expensive genuine "Honda" male fuel connector, why are they so expensive??!! £25+ an outrage!

My advice is put it up for the £600-£700 others have suggested it's worth and see what happens. You may get that one person who really wants it and is happy to pay that kind of money for it. If not you have room to drop the price.

Good luck, hope you get what you want from it.

Sound advice on selling anything, you can drop the price on no interest but it's rather hard to do the opposite when people are battering the door down, and regardless of what you are selling, you only need one mug prepared to agree with your valuation to turn it into reality
