These events are run like festivals and are so hyped up.

Maybe the advert was for female bathing costumes and not Blackfins

Hi FOLKS

As promised feedback re skeg guard protectors

After quite a bit of correspondence re sizing of skeguards for my outboard ( merc 80 efi) no one in states would confirm 100% that the product would be an exact fit as my merc is not sold in US even after sending templates, although everone was very helpful and stated should fit didnt want to go down the road of buying and sending back to US and all the agro involved.

I waited until I went over there in June and went to boatshops and sized up skeguards and skegs on Outboards against my template

Yep you guessed it the skegs on the 60 and 90 Mercs are the same as the 80 sold here.

Still coudnt decide on Blackfin and or SS skeguard from
Megaware KeelGuard

Took the plunge and purchased both as there would be no P+P

Offered both up to skeg when got home and they both were a perfect match.

eventually fitted the SS one as needed to use boat next day and couldnt wait for the adhesive on blackfin to cure .

Bottom line both appear to be very well made and good fit

I didnt look at that size engine in the US

If it uses the same size lower leg casing etc yes.

If you take a template of your skeg send it to me i will see if it fits blackfin i have.

the sizing on the web site are different to the sizing on the box !!

Picked up this thread rather late.

I used a normal 2-part "Marine" epoxy (sold by, I think, Goop); with an epoxy colorant (Tap plastics has it in their fiberglassing supplies), Angle grind to smooth out the rough metal, then epoxy to build it up eyond original dimensions, and angle grind again to bring it back to close to original. Looks OK (repair is obvious if you look at it, but doesn't stand out), and has been on 2 weekend runs without any apparent detriment.
