Water/Fuel Seperator on 2stoke Yamaha - yes or no?
Getting mixed opinions, from a few people - shall I bother?
enigne is a 2 stroke 60 Yamaha PTT - whats the chance of water getting in the system?

I had one fitted........
........as standard when I bought my Zodiac Med I with a Yam 70 on the tail. I never had any problems what so ever. Better safe than sorry for the small cost involved in fitting and maintaining the same.

Yes get one .. if it saves you from loosing power on just one occasion it's been worth it. They don't cost much, far cheaper than a rescue!

I agree with the chaps. I reckon the chances of you getting water in your fuel system are the same as for any of us. Better safe than sorry!

I think water /fuel separators are vital I have put two inline on one of my boats. Surely the water/fuel issue is far more important with a two stroke as the fuel carries the lubrication also.
ASAP supplies also to a good range of filters. The RACOR ones are the best, whichever you buy make sure you can drain it easily, the models with a small brass turned ferrule at the bottom are difficlult to opem without tools.

Sorry, have to disagree there the Racor are second best from my research they are 3 stage filters where as the Separ ones are 5 stage and the normal CAV / canister type are single stage.
But then the Racor filters only hurt when you pay for them the Separ ones positivly make you eyes water!!
But then you get what you pay for!
